I always had a keen interest in Jewellery and started to design and make my own pieces when a friend introduced me to Silver Art Clay many years ago. Since then I have not looked back and have taken every opportunity to learn and develop my skills and knowledge of Silver and things metal clay along with the more traditional methods of silver smithing. Latterly also beading and lamp-working with glass.
Having spent some time just enjoying the medium of Art Clay I went onto to take my Art Clay Senior Instructor Certification in 2011 so I can pass on this wonderful passion and teach both L1 & L2 certificates in the UK and Europe.
I achieved my Diploma in Teaching in 2012. This has allowed me to tutor at my local adult education centre in creative arts and crafts.
My workspace has grown from the dining room table to a wonderful studio setting in our garden, where I also host small intimate classes, drawing on both my craftwork knowledge and my teaching skills helping students of all abilities to achieve their goals.
I spend many happy hours in my studio where I am able to create and design my unique jewellery and any commissions that I have.
I love to use precious metals including Art Clay in my designs and often combine it with other mediums such as fused glass, enamels and many other elements. I have in the past produced themed collections using precious and semi-precious stones with Art Clay and other mediums inspired by nature/beaches and places visited on holidays.
The world of metal clay is developing fast with the introduction of copper, brass, bronze and steel clays. It is such a versatile medium which makes it great to work with.
